about
James' passion for acting emanated back in high school, where he participated in musicals and drama programs throughout his time at Monbulk College. Completing VCE Theatre Studies, James was compelled to turn his love of acting into a career.
James spent five years as a series regular on the popular Australian series Neighbours, where he played
Chris Pappas—the shows first ongoing male gay character in its 37+ year history.
His portrayal of Chris earned him a nomination at the 2012 TV Week Logie Awards, for 'Most Popular New Talent.'
Awards to James' name include a Soap Extra Award in 2014 for 'Most Topical Storyline,'
which saw his Neighbours character, Chris, the victim of a brutal coward punch.
In the same year, James picked up the award on behalf on Neighbours for their win for 'Best Daytime Soap'
at the Inside Soap Awards whilst in London.
Since then, James has appeared in projects such as Playing For Keeps (Network Ten Series),
Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries (Seven Network Series) and The Slaughterhouse Killer (Feature),
in all of which he played principle roles.
2022 has brought on more opportunities for James, with Darklands (Stan Feature) and
Surviving Summer (Netflix Series) being added to his list of film and television work.
James also has a love for the stage, appearing in productions such as Flame Trees, written by Wayne Tunks,
and more recently, Last Call, by Bill Ten Eyck and Christine Sinclair—which was performed at the renowned
La Mama Theatre in Melbourne.
As well as acting, James' interest lie in other aspects of filmmaking—Producing and directing his first short film Someone Else in 2014, on behalf of his production company Standing Man.
The short had its international premiere at San Diego Film Festival and is now available to view online.
Other films produced include M.A.N.S. and One With The Lot.
James has written, produced, directed and starred in a trilogy of commercials for eiengineering, which have had airtime on the WIN Network, around Australia.
In late 2015, James was fortunate enough to journey to Iceland, where he hosted a travel documentary called Budget Backpacker, produced by New York based production company Urban Fiasco. While there, the group toured the south coast of the island, documenting ways to travel cheaply without diminishing the experience.
James has studied extensively with some of the world's best acting coaches, including Howard Fine and David Coury—two of Hollywood's most acknowledged teachers.
