about me

James' passion for acting emanated back in high school where he participated in musicals and drama programs throughout his time at Monbulk College. Completing VCE Theatre Studies, James was compelled to turn his love of acting into a career.

James spent five years as a series regular on the popular Australian soap Neighbours, where he played Chris Pappas—the shows first ongoing male gay character in its 33-year history.

His portrayal of Chris earned him a nomination at the 2012 TV Week Logie Awards, for 'Most Popular New Talent.'

Awards to James' name include a Soap Extra Award in 2014 for 'Most Topical Storyline,' which saw his Neighbours character, Chris, the victim of a brutal coward punch.

In the same year, James picked up the award on behalf of the Neighbours team, for their win for 'Best Daytime Soap' at the Inside Soap Awards, whilst in London.

More recent productions James has appeared in include Playing For Keeps (tv series), Freudian Slip (web series) and Slaughterhouse (feature), all due for release in 2018.

James also has a love for the stage, appearing in productions such as Flame Trees, written by Wayne Tunks, and more recently, Last Call, by Bill Ten Eyck and Christine Sinclair—which was performed at La Mama Theatre.

As well as acting, James' interest lies in other aspects of filmmaking—Producing and directing his first short film Someone Else in 2014, on behalf of his production company Standing Man.

The company are set to complete their second and third shorts, M.A.N.S. and One With The Lot, in 2018.

James has written, produced, directed and starred in a trilogy of commercials for eiengineering, which have been airing on the WIN Network.

In late 2015, James was fortunate enough to journey to Iceland, where he hosted the travel documentary Budget Backpacker, produced by New York based production company, Urban Fiasco. While there, the group toured the south coast of the island, documenting ways to travel cheaply without diminishing the experience. The show is yet to be released.

James has studied extensively with some of the world's best acting coaches, including Howard Fine and David Coury—two of Hollywood's most acknowledged teachers.
